For Lenders
For Lenders: Turn Your Idle Items into Income
Step 1: List Your Item
- Register: Sign up as a lender and add your item to our platform. Include a detailed description, good-quality photos, and pricing.
- Set Availability: Choose when your item is available for rent and set your own rental terms. You can also set a security-deposit authorisation amount, which is shown clearly to renters before payment.
Step 2: Manage Your Bookings
- Receive Requests: Get notified when someone wants to rent your item. You can review their profile and rental history before approving.
- Accept Requests: Accept a suitable request. The renter is then prompted to complete the secure payment step; payment processing is provided by Stripe.
Step 3: Handover
- Meet: Arrange the handover through RentRooster messages, make sure you are meeting the correct renter, and photograph or video the item's condition before it leaves your possession.
- Keep it on platform: Keep important arrangements and evidence in RentRooster messages. Use Message support if a problem arises.
Step 4: Get Paid
- Receive Item Back: Confirm the item's return and its condition through our platform.
- Complete: When the item is back and the rental is complete, use the completion action. RentRooster captures the rental charge, releases any unused deposit authorisation and applies the platform fee. Bank payout timing is then handled by the payment provider.
For Renters
Find What You Need, When You Need It
Step 1: Search for Items
- Explore: Use our simple search bar to find what you need. You can search by category, item name, or even specific features.
- Discover: Browse listings with detailed descriptions, photos, and reviews from other renters.
Step 2: Book Your Rental
-Choose: Select the item that best fits your needs and check the availability for your required dates.
- Request: Choose your dates and send the owner a rental request. The owner has up to 48 hours to respond. If they accept, you complete the secure payment step through RentRooster.
Step 3: Arrange Pickup or Delivery
- Connect: Once your booking is confirmed, connect directly with the lender to arrange a convenient pickup time and location or opt for delivery if available.
- Receive: Meet the owner and check the item against the listing. Use photos/video and the RentRooster message thread to keep a clear handover record.
Step 4: Enjoy and Return
- Use: Enjoy the item for the agreed rental period. If something goes wrong, message the owner through RentRooster and use Message support when needed.
- Return: Return the item in the agreed condition and record the return. The owner then completes the rental in RentRooster, which captures the rental charge and releases the unused deposit authorisation.
