Camping and outdoor kit is frequently bought for a single holiday and then stored for most of the year. Local rental can give occasional users access to tents, roof boxes, coolers, camping furniture, paddleboards and other gear without permanent storage.
Check size and capacity carefully
A 'four-person' tent, roof box or cool box may not suit every group or vehicle. Read dimensions and ask about compatibility. For inflatable or water equipment, confirm pumps, fins, paddles and other essential accessories.
Inspect before leaving town
Check that poles, pegs, valves and fasteners are present. For safety-critical equipment, follow the manufacturer guidance and use the appropriate personal safety equipment.
Return equipment clean and dry where possible
Outdoor gear can be damaged by damp storage. If weather makes a dry return impossible, message the owner and agree a sensible handover rather than packing wet equipment away without warning.
